I'm very tempted to make a tremor, earthquake, typhoooon sized shift from the current Rails setup to a Golang setup.
Rails is beautiful in organization... but very very annoying in memory, speed, deployability. We are getting memory leaks; the damn Mexican hackers are overloading our most arcane endpoints and I personally find it unbearable. There are other reasons and I don't want to get in to them here except to say that this shit is cold spaghetti and I just don't want to lick it.
I'm considering a far-from-tabula-rasa Gitea as a a foundation, building what custom we need from there, in particular:
expectionally easy uploads in all contexts (repo, commit, comment)
a solid philosophy on team (aka School/classroom/studygroup) mgmt
easy import from google
omniauth
no technie "git" shit... at least for starters
maybe markdown-y stuff is allowed(?)
I am drunk and I am ranting but this is how I feel.
