Group e-mails like conversation #499

It would be lice to group the e-mails like
conversation, just like gmail.

What's the current status of this issue? It's really hard to see, with the migrated trac comments.
I guess a lot of people are still waiting for this to be implemented?

Of the over 6,000 open (and closed) issues, this is the second most upvoted:

and after 14 years, not even a developer response. @alecpl or someone, can you advise? I would like to leave Gmail but this issue is a blocker.

Hey guys, I need such functionality for my organization too, so I tried to write plugin for this purpose, you can find it here: https://github.com/bolsunovskyi/rcube_threadchats Will be glad to hear any feedbacks. Currently you can see thread/chats only from receive-like folders (not from sent folder). Also top reply/forward/deletes buttons work not properly, for this purpose every message in thread has it's own button block.

Just as a note, we're not adopting RoundCube because the lack of this feature.

The same for us. It's a clear blocker

Everyone! It's Feb. 2021, I found this feature already exists. It's just well hidden. Click on ... then Manage folders, then click on the Inbox folder, and change it from List to Threads, voila!

Care to outline how exactly? Just for clarity as to what is expected from this ticket? I can see how it would be nice to be able to highlight the reply-chain and see it displayed all at once in the reading area.

It seems like it would be fine if the sent/received/sorted emails were transcluded into the thread listing. It is tedious to only be able to read one at a time.

Define "related"? I know maybe email doesn't implicitly have a strict reply structure, but the desire is to scope email to replies right? Nothing more? If there is any form of compression to reduce quotes in the email tails that could be criteria for grouping and date sorting.

I think you guys should make a fresh Issue in the current issue tracker since this one is imported from an old system, and there's probably a tracker the team uses. I think the problem here is likely no one has eyes on this topic/thread.
