Thanks Stéphane, that's a very good question. So far we have kept everything since RouteViews first started archiving BGP dumps in 1997. And the intention is to keep on doing that but, as RIS knows too, it becomes a serious storage issue. We have offers to host more collectors around the world, the BGP tables for IPv4 and IPv6 get bigger and bigger, which becomes an ever increasing storage headache. It is a high priority for the team, not just increasing capacity, but further improving the resiliency of the archive.
Enhancement Discussion
Hello, I may talk about archiving of Internet technical data at the next WAC conference and I have a question about RouteViews (I did not find "Ask a question" in the possible Github issues). In practice, RouteViews has always kept data for a very long time. But it there an explicity policy/commitment about that? RIPE, which also archives routing data, had discussions about reducing the data kept. I did not find a mention about the long-term archiving in the FAQ. Any statement somewhere about that?
