I'm pretty sorry but I suggest you to update your 3DS to 9.2.0-20U with DevMode/PastaMode. Support for special system version is obsolete and you may not receive good updates with 8.1.
8.1.0-10 is frankenfirmware. CakeHax has bad support about frankenfirmware. You can only try SSB cart upgrading to 9.2.0-10U and use HBL to boot/Sysupdater-upgrade your SysNAND.
Attention,one time,SSB updated my 2ds to 9.5.0!
Only a part of SSB carts have 9.2.0-20U upgrade pack bundled. Later & earlier won't have it. The safest method is buy a Sky3DS and burn a 9.2-confirmed SSB ROM on it.
Fu**\ sky3ds,use sysupdater
Fu**\ sysupdater. You can't boot rxTools on -10U browser so you can't use sysupdater without SSB 9.2/Sky3DS-burned-SSB 9.2. Unless mid-kid fixes CakeHax's frankenfirmware browser entrypoint, or 8.1->9.5->9.2.
Don't understand frankenfirmware...
Why people is getting in?
Update with cartdrige?
Frankenfirmware has two types. 1) Upgraded from a cartridge. 2) Downgraded from GWDG / Sysupdater. Both of them have some components unmatch to their main version.
1 mainly causes the Browser unmatch, which makes CakeHax unable to boot rxTools/other-CakeHax-enhanced-CFW from Browser.
2-GW mainly causes the H&C unmatch, which makes FBI injection unable to judge the correct TMD then make the injection error.
2-Sysupdater mainly causes random bricks or booting error on 9.3-10.3 -> 9.2 consoles.
NOTHING can cause a brick by installing the browser.
Nobody talks about installing browser.
That's what you need to do, nitwit.
Anyway, you should close the issue. It's not the fault of rxTools that YOUR firmware isn't right.
You can't since frankenfirmware type 1 never allow CakeHax browser entrypoint to boot. You can only use GW browser entrypoint.
It's not my issue. I just want your devs to mention that cakehax has incompatible issues to frankenfirmwares (while GW doesn't). Otherwise noobs will repeat asking about how to use Browser to boot rxTools on frankenfirmwares.
This is NOT a support forum. This is for rxTools issues. Use browserhax and NASA:

Close the issue.
Noobs will ask at gbatemp, not github. As it should be.

My 3DS was updated with a cartridge at some point in the distant past, never downgraded, and has worked with RxTools 2.x for a long while. I wouldn't know anything about Frankenfirmware because I never had an issue and the installation instructions listed on every RxTools page has never stated anything. If RxTools 3 can't be booted on various random firmwares then it should be pointed out in the RxTools readme because it's clearly a RxTools problem if the exploit works otherwise. I won't close this issue until the readme reflects something more detailed than "Requires ver 9.2 or older."
Don't know who the hell you think you are, but the docs CLEARLY state "Also, rxTools does not work on every firmware. If it doesn't work for you, downgrade to 4.5 or upgrade to 9.2".
The devs are not here to please 1 person. If you don't like it or the docs, make your own.
"rxTools is a collection of hacking tools for Nintendo 3DS/3DSXL/2DS, compatible with all the system versions from 4.1 to 9.2"
"Support for Web Browser (SPIDER) entrypoint for Old 3DS (ver 4.1-9.2)"
It's not a matter of pleasing one person, it's a matter of having proper documentation to prevent user issues going forward. Also, please link the doc you're referencing, because that particular line doesn't appear to exist in the git Readme.
Should be in the .zip file you downloaded. Otherwise, it's in the docs folder in the source.
https://github.com/roxas75/rxTools/blob/master/docs/rxTools.pdf
Also, it's still beta. The docs will be sorted out when it's out of beta.
Cleaned out my working 2.6 installation as directed in the readme and created the firmware file as well, then dropped the beta-2 files on the card. Upon booting the spider exploit via browser, it locks up after the load bar gets to the end and proceeds to freeze. Then, it crashes to the home menu with "An error has occurred."
My 3DS is an O3DS running 8.1.0-10U.
