Unable to launch 1.21GB (or 2GB legacy) Rare 2DS emuNAND #452

I don't know whether it can be fixed or not. This case happened on some of the Pokemon RGBY exclusive 2DSes. Their NAND size are 1.21GB. Their emuNAND can only be formatted in 1.21GB or 2GB legacy. But current GW / rxTools / other CFWs cannot recognize it. It says emuNAND not found.

There used to be an alternative way to make it compatible: 1) Borrow an O3DS to format 1GB emuNAND 2) Force injecting 1.21GB NAND backup to 1GB emuNAND partition. But the 2DS owner just told me it didn't work.

@MelonGx Maybe I'm misunderstanding this. Do you mean emunand can't be launched on this system?

MelonGx commented 8 years ago

Yes. EmuNAND cannot be launched.

New report: The force-injecting-1.21GB-to-1GB-partition method also failed. rxTools said emuNAND was not found either.

Maybe JPN Pokemon RGBY 2DS 1.21GB case is different from thaikhoa's 1.21GB case? On thaikhoa's case ( http://gbatemp.net/goto/post?id=5580703#post-5580703 ), GW Launcher created 1.21GB NAND backup but Decrypt9 created 943MB. But on JPN Pokemon RGBY 2DS case, everything created 1.21GB NAND backup.

(Edit) The 2DS owner succeeded dumping 943MB NAND with 20150710 Decrypt9. But unlike thaikhoa's case, all of rxTools / Cakes / Rei have black screen on that 943MB NAND injected to 1GB emuNAND partition.

This seems to be related: https://github.com/mid-kid/CakesForeveryWan/issues/25 Well you can just use EmuNAND9 or update your Decrypt9.. for NAND operation.

Just helping that 2DS owner try d0k3's test build. Confirmed that:

worked. But rxTools still didn't work.

Hello!

I've been plagued by this very issue!

I'm running on the limited red clear 2DS (pokemon release), and while my Gateway cart reads my emunand, RXtools completely ignores my emunand.

And I'm pretty sure I didn't bork any of my processes, cause I've previously set up a US O3DSXL and also a JPN N3DSLL, so I've been left confused, regarding why it simply does not want to run my emunand, when Gateway red cart has no issues with it.

@Queno138

Rather than using Gateway to create the EmuNAND, have you tried using EmuNAND9? It's had much better success with the 2DS.

Hello!

Well unlike the other example mentioned, my console runs with gateway, but fails at everything else. (though I do have HBL access)

I'll try to create an emunand using Emunand9, and see how it goes.

Queno138 commented 8 years ago

As suggested, I used Emunand9 to attempt to do so, and It didn't work.

I used Emunand9 to create emunand from scratch, unlinked my nands, and RXtools still prompt the message. "The emunand was not found on your SDCard".

Also, Gateway still works on the Emunand setup by Emunand9 ><

The emunand by emunand9 also has the file size of 1.21gb

I usedd v1.1.0 from https://github.com/Shadowtrance/EmuNAND9/releases

edit: emunand works for cakes.
