Two things: In the settings page, please click the web page button. What do you
see?
Also, please check the logs either using the logs button there or from
%userprofile%\.qgvdial\qgvdial.log

thank you for a reply,
As for your suggestion ....... Two things: In the settings page, please click
the web page button. What do you see?
Also, please check the logs either using the logs button there or from
%userprofile%\.qgvdial\qgvdial.log

1.... Web page button ???? Where? What web page?
2.... Logs are checked where? How do I get to the "logs" to check them?

I can build web pages, web sites, etc but without some kind of step by step I
be absolutely LOST, here.

Sorry.... but maybe you have a LINK or a YOUTUBE university HOW to do those?

1. Web page button: There are 4 tabs. The right most tab is the settings tab.
Click it. The settings page should be shown if it wasn't already the selected
page.
On the settings page there are two buttons that I've added to debug problems:
"Web page (debug)" and "View log (debug)". @wordpurified, I was asking you to
click the Web Page button.
2. @julie and @wordpurified: I assume you're trying this on a Windows machine.
Please click the "Web page (debug)" button, click on the blank page then press
"Ctrl + N". It should pop up an input box. Please enter gmail.com and press
enter. If you do not see the gmail login screen, then there are two
possibilities: Either qgvdial isn't able to use the network you're on OR this
may be related to an SSL library bug that I've been trying to identify and fix
for the last 5-6 months.
3. I'm sorry I'm not going to be able to make a youtube video right now - I
don't have enough time for that after my day job and tending to qgvdial bugs
and features.

Thank you, I'll try that..... on my off time also....

It looks like a great app.... but I don't think it is the apps fault, as
Gmail and Gvoice load SUPER slow on my laptop and sometimes get a Error on
my laptop of taking to long to load.
To may people using like Skype!

Well thank you again!

Hi, Yuvraaj,

I have been using the Symbian Ovi Store version of qgvdial on my N8 for a few
months now, and I have been impressed by it and appreciate all the time and
effort it must have taken to put it together. So first - thanks for creating it
and publishing it. I've wanted to use my GV# as my primary mobile # for a
while and this makes it possible.

Unfortunately, my copy stopped working recently. I think it was after I did a
"soft reset" and installed the latest versions of QT, QT mobility etc. When I
open it up, it just continuously tries to log in and gets nowhere. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled it, and still get this. Have you had experience
like this or heard form other people who did? I'd be happy to send any log
files that might be helpful.

Thanks again for all your work!

@Comment 7: First - sorry I cannot see your id beyond "nisa" and so I have to
refer to you by your comment number. Thanks for using the Symbian version.
If you're using the Ovi store version, it's probably very very old. I've
submitted about 50 more revisions to the Ovi Store, but they've not been
published because the Ovi Store QA is unable to test qgvdial because they don't
have a valid GV account. As a result, the only version that people can download
from the Ovi store is the one I submitted for the Calling all innovators
competition.... which btw, I'm probably not going to win :(
There are a ton of fixes that have gone in since then and most recently at
least one that addresses login problems.
I'm pretty new to the Symbian development world so I'm not sure if it will work
for you or not, but the downloads page for qgvdial
(http://code.google.com/p/qgvdial/downloads/list) has installers for Symbian
s3. From what I understand, it will probably not work, but you can give it a
shot.

If that doesn't work, I have one way which has worked for me once when my
Symbian test phone was misbehaving: Remote wipe. I configured my work email on
my phone, then requested a remote wipe of the phone. This is the only reliable
way I've found to "nuke" my phone. But beware: You will lose ALL your
data/photos/videos/ringtones/QT libraries. In my case, that's exactly what I
wanted. For you it may not be the case - so: Back it up.

Hi, Yuvraaj,

Just downloaded the new symbian version (which is 2.676!) from ovi store, and
after a few restarts, it's logging to my account. Two things, it took a few
restarts for qgvdial to let me type in my gvoice info for some reason, but now
that's fine. the other thing, is that there seems to be a minute or more delay
between setting a number to dial (using the dialpad) and that number actually
getting dialed. just for your consideration.

Again, thanks, and if i can ever be of help (in terms of testing or seeing how
it works in everyday use) I'd be happy to offer what help I can.

Nisan

wordpurified: Were you able to login?

Original comment by yuvr...@gmail.com on 29 Aug 2011 at 4:44

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Thanks very much for the inquiry about logging in!

But since I can't get a gvoice Number, as that is NO longer offered, I just do
NOT even use the service.

I have NOT tried to login for this reason, even tho I've not deleted your app
from my WM 6.1.

IF I had a gvoice Number, I'd more than likely continue ..ie.. Login and do the
voice thing with google, but no Number, no Lift OFF.

I'll leave connected to this board, for info on app updates, and may even keep
the apps on my Kaiser. I left receiving email notification ON... as you may
noticed.

Again thank you very much for asking.

Augh! GV numbers no longer offered?? When did that happen?
Anyway - ping back if you start using GV and qgvdial. I'm keeping this bug open.

I don't know who all are looking at this bug. I only recently figured out I
could get notifications.

If I figure out how to get one of their numbers, or get one form someone who
may have an extra, I'd be more than happy to use your fine software. Someone
actually promised me one of theirs just 3 days ago... I'd really like to use
gvoice on my PDA. so I could get a data plan and get rid of phone minutes.
Surfing & gvoice to the max. LOL!

Thanks and later!

your self_signed app only installs half way then fails install. My phone is
hacked to install any cert app so it should install. Nokia 5530 helloox2 hacked
and your app simply will not install and ovi version is unable to login at all

Original comment by spinn...@gmail.com on 18 Jan 2012 at 9:03

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
@spinn360: Would it help if I upload the unsigned version? It needs a valid
cert to actually run, but you may benefit from an unsigned version rather than
a signed one.

Original comment by yuvr...@gmail.com on 18 Jan 2012 at 6:26

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
I honestly cannot say that it is your app. Sorry for jumping to conclusions.
I have tried installing the ovi app again and it too fails to install now. I
may have inadvertently removed a program that helps install this app. Is there
an app that helps install this about half way through the install it requests
connection to the internet after I accept it says installation failed. if you
feel like sending either uploading the app or sending me the app I will try it.
Or better yet if you have an idea as to what is wrong on my end that I could
fix I am willing to try any option. Thanks

Yuvr do you think you could upload a copy that does not include smartinstaller?
That is where my phone is having issues. I have all the QT programs and Nokia
Smart Installer on my phone, but for some reason smart installer causes an
install failure error. Thanks

bottom of the screen I see for an instant the "Ready" message. Is there any way
to get rid of this problem?

In reply to Comment #21:
Please expand the logs display and click the "send logs" button.
Also: Confirm that the user name is correct. I have sometimes changed so much
in the underlying code that I need the user to re-authenticate.

Do you mean to say that you have completed setup using your desktop browser

Have you followed the steps as enumerated here? :

Does anyone of the reporters have two step authentication enabled ?

In the logs after failed login I can see google's reply :

"Please use your account password instead of an application-specific password."

If I use the account password google sends a verification pin , but qgvdial
does not have a place to input that.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Yes I saw that in the changelog and code. but apparently the layout of the 2nd
step page changed , and qgvdial doesn't detect it any more and reports login
failure.

I was able to hack the code to get past the two step auth correctly, but then
qgvdial insists on looking for something called RNR, doesn't find it and fails.

I hacked that part too, but qgvdial wants a "self number" which I don't have
(probably US only ?). Is it possible to get this working for dialling out only ?

Augh I dont know how to get notified when something changes on this issue list.
Since I'm here, lets see if I can answer @pharon:
1. I have two factor auth (TFA) enabled for my account.
2. the TFA code has undergone multiple overhauls to get it to work. I dont know
if you're still watching, but I just fixed it again in the last month.
3. Unfortunately, much of qgvdial's features don't work correctly without
associating a phone number with your Google Voice number. Using the old code
would need me to rip out all that or at least somehow disable it, and I'm not
ready for that.
