This is actually a 'feature' in GTK - it will play the sound out of speakers depending on where the window is on screen that played it.
It annoys me immensely, and I only found out what the source of this behaviour was through a reddit post: https://old.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/142pre2/attention_to_detail/
I don't know how to turn this behaviour off, couldn't find any documentation on it anywhere (or even any mention of the feature at all).
Would appreciate if anyone finds any method of turning this positional sound thing off, it's awful.
I have a multi monitor setup, it is structured like this, primary display (left) - secondary display (Middle) - third display (right). Using my primary display, when i empty my trash bin a prompt pops up and plays dialog-information/dialog-question.wav (not sure exactly which one since they're the same sound) from the Windows-XP-Default sound theme. When using multiple monitors this causes the sound to play only from the left side (seems to correspond with display position) but when i mirror all the displays the sound plays normal like from both ears. When i play the sound effect in an audio player it also sounds normal there. Not sure if any other sounds are affected by this. My os is Manjaro-Xfce
