Unfortunately yeah the guide is a bit old by now, I made a lot more progress on the shell and overall packaging process since then.
At the moment the lack of guide/installer is mainly just down to me prioritising getting more things done, rather than some form of gatekeeping. The idea I have in my head is to work on a proper setup wizard process akin to XP's once a lot of the 'key' things are done ( #81 ) . For instance the network/battery tray icons, explorer, some CPLs like desk.cpl I think - if I make any sort of release/guide, even as a 'preview', I will probs get complaints about things being missing/unfinished and it's not really worth the strife imo.
I'm happy to help people who want to try out the project but are stuck somewhere. :grin:
what do you do after the things in appearance? my panel doesn't look like the one in the screenshots (same with the start/application menu)
@millionsofplayers You're probably running xfce4-panel
- you'll want to run wintc-taskband
.
how do i change the style of the taskbar
Are you running wintc-taskband
?
yes
Is it not getting themed for you?
It's luna, but I have the silver theme on
There is no Silver theme built by this repo yet, you must be using a theme from elsewhere?
Maybe it's a built in xfce theme or something and I just assumed it was from this repo
There's only these ones at the moment mate
The installation of the packages itself were no problem, but as a novice I have genuine trouble just "finding" certain settings (for example the replacement of the panel with the taskband) and the only video I could find on it is outdated? Is this just something I shouldn't approach without a advanced understanding of Linux or is there any chance for a comprehensive guide to this in the near future?
