Sometimes it is useful to remove tasks, here are some possible approaches:

Edit, then delete the contents of the line. Result is a blank line. Archiving will not clean it up.
Shortcut key (d=delete), to remove the current line.
Shortcut key (h=hide), to strike it out similar to complete, but it will only actually delete the line on the next Archiving command.

A task's completion state can be toggled with c. That while use the strikethrough font to show that it is completed. Using A to archive items will remove completed items.

If you want to circumvent the complete-then-archive flow, you can nuke items directly from the file with N.

Is there another feature in addition to these that you were looking for?

It's been a while, so I'm closing this for now. If I misunderstood the original issue, please re-open so I can add the needed feature.
