Kindle crashes on downloading archives #55

I have tried multiple installs of Kindle on ICS-Alpha2-3g rom. The kindle opens up, syncs up with the account, but when I try to download some of my archives, it crashes. Has anybody seen this issue in any ICS flavor on Adam?

Same here. LCD Wifi/3G adam using ICS straight from TR Kindle runs but will not download.

Interestingly neeledesh on notionink.wordpress.com blog also reported this issue, and stated that kindle worked fine in the beta. I wonder what the difference could be?

With further investigation I've found that my fresh install of AC3 is experiencing the same problem, leading me to think that this is a kindle app problem that was instroduced by a recent update but is only revealed when one needs to download books from archive.

The workaround to the problem is to log on to amazon.com via any browser, go to "manage my kindle", "my digital library", and then for each relevant book use the "deliver to my..." to push the download from the server. This workaround was successful on both my AC3 adam and my ICS-beta adam.

I hope we see a kindle update in the next few days that solves the problem, but I don't think ICS-beta is to blame, I think it's coincidental.

You can also long-press on the books in the archive menu and press "Download". The issue occurs because the Kindle app calls a system routine to resize a bitmap to create a thumbnail - however it gives the function an invalid location for where it's supposed to find the bitmap to resize, so it crashes.

Either downloading via the website, or long-pressing in the archive menu bypasses the window that requires the scaled bitmap - avoiding the issue. I'm really not sure if it's the app's issue or ours at this point, but because you say it happens on AC 0.3 as well, I'm leaning towards it being a kindle issue.

Kindle app update solved this. I believe this issue should now be closed.

@mrdrag, if you've seen this as resolved you can hit "Close issue" to save the admin guys doing it. This problem has been fixed for over a week by my estimation.
