I added root to my sudoers file, and the install succeeded.... still not sure why I should have to. Also, for some reason the only option was to install for all users of this machine. I'd prefer to be able to install for just my account
For installing Safari Ominibar 1.5 for Safari 5.1.2, I was able to get it to install via:
osx$ sudo open Safari\ Omnibar-1.5.pkg
Same problem here. Omnibar 1.6 on Mac OS Lion. I was able to install it on my MacBook Pro (mid 2008) but not on my iMac (late 2010): strange, isn't it? I tried the fix instructions here https://github.com/rs/SafariOmnibar/issues/80 but still couldn't solve the problem. Any help?
Problem solved: I first installed 1.5 version, than updated. Now it works!
sudo open Safari\ Omnibar-1.6.pkg
Worked on Safari 5.1.3 too.
Thanks. I fixed the problem by installing first Omnibar 1.5 and then upgrading. Regards,

Penguins are black and white.
Some old TV shows are black and white.
Therefore, some penguins are old TV shows.
