All names were not showing. I use the international format like +49173123456
I have uninstalled smsdroid and now i use the .apk from your attachement..
same problem.

just to be sure:
in contacts you have +49173123456 (without blanks or anything, with +49 etc)
exectly the same number is displayed in smsdroid, but not the name?
to get some more info:
please install sendlog (via market or smsdroid prefs),
clear the smsdroid cache,
kill smsdroid (without goging to the main view)
start smsdroi,
got to prefs and send me your logs.

Thx. It's working using your build from comment #58 on HTC Desire with stock
ROM.

This seems to be really an undead zombie issue :( Even with the latest attached
version the contact's
name (not picture) disappears after sending or receiving (or both, not sure) a
message in it's thread...

It's a little bit funny for me because actually I test Cyanogen 5.0.7 (Android
2.1)
on my Magic. With CM-Test 3 all ok. With Test4 I have the problem with the
names and
the photos or the names and the photos were wrong sorted.
Now with test5 is all ok. Mh... Don't know how long...

strange.
it may help to star this issue to get this fixed in upcomming android versions:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=8255
@silas: please test numbers in different format and tell me which are working
and
which aren't.
logs with sendlog may help me to figure out what's wrong for you.

@all: when sending logs: please use the apk attached above. it's the same code
as in
market, but debuging is turned of for the market version.

Ok, I think I am able to reproduce the problem:
1. Create and start an AVD with Android 2.1
2. Install WebSMS and SMSdroid
3. Create an contact "firstname lastname" with mobile phone number "+49 179
1234567"
4. Open SMSdroid and compose a new message with WebSMS
5. Set default prefix in WebSMS to +49 and your own phone number (this step
should
not be necessary but I did it)
6. Enable the stock SMS connector
7. Send a message to "firstname lastname"
8. Go back to SMSdroid: everything's fine: "firstname lastname" is displayed in
the
thread's overview
9. Open "firstname lastname"'s thread
10. Choose answer and write a second message with WebSMS' SMS connector
11. Go back to SMSdroid: instead of "firstname lastname" "+491791234567" (no
spaces
in the number) is displayed
The interesting thing is, that inside a thread's view in SMSdroid the name is
shown
correctly (on my device -- I didn't try that on the emulator since I don't know
how
to emulate incoming SMS there)

I can confirm Silas's statement above: inside a thread the correct name is
shown, but
in the conversation list I sometimes have only the number (no spaces, etc.)
shown.
I also noticed today:
When I get a sms reminder from my carrier (o2 Germany) about a mailbox message,
they
use the caller's number as the sender. Thus I have two threads with the same
picture,
but only one shows the actual name, the other one shows the number.

Is it helpful for you if I test it with Cyanogen 5.0.7 Test4 (there I have the
problem) and then with test5 (there I have the problem not) and send you the
logs?
Original comment by fw1977m...@gmail.com

Ok, the problem also appears when receiving messages, what I could
not test in the sim...

After the last update it seam to be solved. All names and pictures were shown.
When i then got a sms
(always from a exsiting conversation) The number of the sender is shown,
although the name was
shown before. After a reboot of ms desire, the same situation - the names were
shown, after an
incomming sms the number is present.
Maybe this explanation Os helpfully.

@silas: at least meens "not yet broken"?
or is there any number not resolved to a name/picture?
ps: i really want to close this issue :D
Original comment by felix.bechstein
on 23 May 2010 at 12:30
Yes, that means "not yet broken" since I did not receive a message since I
installed
the update. But with the older versions even this send action was enough to
remove
the contact's name.
Can anyone else confirm the fix so far on Desire/2.1?
Original comment by silas.gr...@gmail.com
on 23 May 2010 at 9:19
Ok, in the meantime I received and sent several SMS and nothing causes the
names to
be broken. So I think you can close this issue ;)
Thanks for your hard work :)

Hi felix,
Still not resolving with my local contacts. Sorry!
I have a number in format: 0831234567 (in address book)
And when receiving message from: +27831234567
it does not resolve to name, only number.
I'll send logs incase you need it.
I installed the last version in post #74, and I have android 2.1 on Desire.
What is causing this do you think?
