Most SMS Apps (and pre-smartphone aera phones) allow to request a notification
when the SMS is actually delivered to the receivers phone. So you know when the
SMS was delivered after the phone was switched off, had network connection
lost, needed more storage space for saving the SMS or the network recovered
from jam or whatever prevented the SMS from being delivered.
This is a very neat feature and AFAIK free at all providers.
As far as I can see, SMSdroid has not option to request this when using the
carriers SMS transport. I don't know wether there is a implementation for
WebSMS by the web service providers. Maybe this would be a "provider option"
for smsdroid?
I like SMSdroid very much compared with my stock SMS app (HTC Sense), but
prefere to use "direct" SMS over WebSMS. Unfortunately the missing status
request is a showstopper for me - and maybe others.
I have a Android SDK running, but being new to Java, Eclipse and Android I
would prefere to server as a beta tester for the time being.
Cheers,
Peter
