o2connector not working (complains about ssl certificate, enabling workaround option does not fix)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set up o2 connector with webSMS
2. wait for webSMS trying to update o2 status of messages left 
-or- 
3. try to send short message via o2 connector

What is the expected output? 
=> status updated or message sent

What do you see instead?
=> an error message, indicating that the SSL certificate is not valid (see 
attachment), trying to enabling the suggested option to ignore invalid SSL 
certificates does not change anything, error-message keeps coming up.

Damn it, the sorting of the list of issues was anything but not by ID, just 
found issue 600, which is still valid then:
