Entering special characters distorts message length #616

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enter some special characters (e.g. 'Degree sign' °) in the text

The number of characters in the sms increases by 91 or even more. But it should 
only increase by 1.

WebSMS 4.2.1, Android 2.1-update1

Es kommt noch hinzu, dass die Sonderzeichen auch nicht korrekt verarbeitet 
werden, also beim Empfänger nicht ankommen.
