Any luck finding the problem? I can test a new version quite quickly if you
want me to try something.

You can make an E2B USB drive from
http://www.easy2boot.com/make-an-easy2boot-usb-drive/
Use 30MB E2B+DPMS 1.55 download.
Run \_ISO\docs\Make_E2B_USB_Drive\Make_E2B_USB_Drive.cmd to make bootable USB
drive.
Then add \_ISO\WINDOWS\XP\XPPROSP3.ISO

To test XP Install on E2B
Boot in VM (e.g VBOX) on VM with SATA HDD (I use DavidB's VUMB utility)
http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/how-to-boot-from-usb-under-vmware-server
In E2B menu press W for Windows menu
The Install XP - Step 1
Follow defaults until XP Setup and get to choose drive screen.

And I found a bug in easy2boot
file XPStep1.g4b
set /a FSize=*0x8290>>20 > nul
if %FSize%>=%MEMSIZE% set NOFIT=1
getstr.g4b $$STRb030
call echo -e %STR%=%MEMSIZE%KB %ISO%=%FSize%KB Boot disk=%SG%GB
%ISO%=%FSize%KB should be `MB`

0.4.6a grub4dos-0.4.6a-2014-09-12.7z also has a problem.
When DPMS runs and it copies the driver files to the floppy disk, it hangs!

I don't know because it does not get as far as booting from the ISO.
DPMS hangs when writing to virtual FAT drive
