Tidyverse versus base R #24

Hello. I wonder if you could spend a bit of time talking about tidyverse versus base R. Thanks!

Can you (or others) be more specific about the comparisons you are interested in? As in, "compare and contrast tidyverse versus base R with respect to FILL_IN_THIS_BLANK".

Whoops! I didn't mean to compare filter with subset in base --- just some general discussion about why would someone use tidyverse over the base functions in general. I know the code is a lot cleaner, but are there other reasons to make the leap? (I haven't used a lot of tidyverse functions so am just wondering!). Thank you.
