Generate swagger file suitable for AWS API Gateway #856

Open Ada-Nick opened 2 years ago

Ada-Nick commented 2 years ago

I'm planning to put a plumber API behind api gateway on AWS. I wanted to import the swagger file generated by plumber to create the api on gateway and then link it to my back end plumber container.

I can't get gateway to accept my swagger/openapi file, with the unhelpful error message of 'Invalid OpenAPIInput'

pr = pr("example_plumber.R") %>%
  plumber::pr_set_docs('swagger')
pr$swaggerFile() %>% toJSON(pretty = T) %>% writeClipboard()

And pasting the output in to API gateway on swagger import.

Is this possible or is there an intended way to do this? I've tried multiple different ways:

My 'example_plumber.R' file is copied directly from the getting started section: https://www.rplumber.io/.

Thanks!

Does it work when you auto_unbox it?

pr = plumber::pr("plumber.R") %>%
  plumber::pr_set_docs('swagger')
pr$getApiSpec() %>% jsonlite::toJSON(pretty = T, auto_unbox = TRUE) %>% writeClipboard()

This passes swagger validator tests. Maybe AWS complains because there is no server set?

Some progress, with that swagger file I'm getting some new errors

Your API was not imported due to errors in the Swagger file. Unsupported model type 'StringSchema' in 500 response to method 'GET /echo'. Ignoring. API Gateway does not support Swagger's 'default' method response (found on 'GET /echo')

Which are repeated for the three endpoints. I don't think the server is required, the gateway example swagger file looks like this:

Maybe remove:

          "default": {
            "description": "Default response."
          }

?

Some progress, with that swagger file I'm getting some new errors

Your API was not imported due to errors in the Swagger file. Unsupported model type 'StringSchema' in 500 response to method 'GET /echo'. Ignoring. API Gateway does not support Swagger's 'default' method response (found on 'GET /echo')

Which are repeated for the three endpoints. I don't think the server is required, the gateway example swagger file looks like this:
