Adding some more unit tests #45

This PR adds tests for the usage instructions (as a snapshot test) and write_log_message().

It's based on #44, so it looks right now like it includes more changes than it actually does. Because of this, I might redo this PR if it doesn't look a lot cleaner once #44 has been merged.
