At last this is now working as I expect. There is a gallery with rticle's included templates: https://rticles-pkg.netlify.app/articles/articles/examples.html

This is built from examples.Rmd with a caching mechanism so that it does not affect pkgdown website build unless this Rmd file is modified. (~20/30 min otherwise)

What was causing me pain is the ctex template which I did not manage to build locally on Windows and in GHA in MacOS. Also I needed to switch from Linux to Max to have enough resource to build the GIF.

The gallery is made this way :

• image is a GIF created from the generated PDF of the included template. (1s per page in the PDF)
• Clicking on the image will open the PDF as example
• The title of each box is from the template.yaml file used for RStudio template mechanism. The journal acronym is prepended
• The source link will open the folder of the article template in Github with the resource files.

I welcome any feedback on how this looks and I'll tweak it accordingly.

Feedback from Friday meeting:

• Try another layout so that it is easier to scroll and look for.
• Idea: do not use quillt::examples() but use usual content so that we have the pkgdown TOC on the side.
