Node v16 goes EOL in early fall, I thought I'd check if the move to v18 was a big lift. Pleasantly surprised that it "just works" on Ubuntu 20.04, although it doesn't work at all on Ubuntu 18.04 (which we stop supporting on 30-Apr-2023).
