reconsider rsyslog status page #20

This page http://www.rsyslog.com/project-status/ should somehow be merged with the other version info page/box.

I removed the status page. The informations are now in the other version box.

There is a "small" problem with this. The url http://www.rsyslog.com/status is given as a stable URL for looking up the current project state. It currently continues to work, but when we no longer maintain that page, we run into troubles. I am not sure what the best option actually is. Maybe just leave the page saying "look at the right-hand box for status"? Or where could we redirect if properly to?

I wouldn't remove the status page, it contains a lot of extra information which cannot be found in the sidebar widget. In general content should never removed, only redirected if duplicated somewhere else on the site.

I would either live with updating the status page AND the widget block, or link to the status page in the widget.

well, actually there is not so much really valuable information on that page.

The old versions are available via "older versions" in the version box. "Platforms" is old cruft that should long have been removed ;) "Additional Informatinon" is mostly a duplicate of the menu items. IIRC it's primarily a leftover of when this page was part of the rsyslog doc set.

Saying this, it may make sense to keep the page but trim it down to "see versions on right" "supported versions" and some of "Additional information"

Even in this case, I think we should not link to this page from the rest of the site, as it is redundant information. IMHO its primarily a landing page for external sites and similar resources.

That's reasonable, but for search optimization reasons the page should remain and, if possible, contain the information directly rather than in an included widget.
