Schedule only runs 2 of 4 zones #150

Running Sprinklers Pi V1.5.3 on a RPi 3b+.

I have 4 zones in my system. They are scheduled to run every 3 days, which has been working well for most of the summer. I've also set up the reporting script to notify me of the total run time of each zone. However, earlier this summer, I noted that it reported on a couple occasions that only 1 or 2 zones ran that particular day. I could manually trigger any zone and it worked without issue, so I chalked it up to a reporting script issue. I rebooted the Pi, and it seemed to work fine after that.

This morning, I received an email notification that only 2 of the zones ran. I checked the log file and found that 7 minutes into the schedule being run for zone 3, the Pi reports Starting v1.5.3.., and then, Turning off all zones. (see below).

Do you have weather scalling enabled? In the report you got what were the 2 scalling factors? What is the configured runtime for the zones that did not run?

I take that back. Looks like the pi rebooted to me. Does "uptime" command correspond with the time in the logs? If so it could be a power issue. What is your power supply ratred at? Which model of pi? How are you driving the relays?

No weather scaling right now, 100% seasonal.

For the two zones that didn't run, they are 20 and 45 minutes long.

Yeah, did you see my second message? I'm 99% sure you have a rebooting issue.

That would make sense that it's a rebooting issue due to power supply. I'll double check the power supply rating when I'm home this evening (I know it was appropriate for the Pi) and may just order a new one, assuming it may be failing.

I'm going to close this for now. If you find some evidence that sprinklers pi is causing the reboots (other than turning a relay on dropping the supply voltage enough to trigger reboot) please open a new issue.

srthimsen commented 4 years ago

Thanks, for future reference, I had a 2.5A power supply running it originally. I just swapped it out for a 3A and will monitor for a while to see what happens.

To confirm, my Pi is powering the relays, but obviously am using a 22V AC transformer for the valves.
