TalkBack keyboard not echoing keys #386

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set TalkBack Keyboard as default input method,
2. open Music app and select Search item in its menu,
3. Clic in the search edit text field: TalkBack Keyboard opens itself.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

When exploring the keyboard of TalkBack Keyboard on my previous
Android device, I had key echo. Simply letting last echoed key alone
would have made it inserted into the text field, echoing it a second
time. When exploring the keyboard on my new Android device, I only
ear "clics" and letting keys alone do not have any effect.

Also, on my previous Android, pushing volume keys on the phone side
during several seconds would have switched TalkBack Keyboard from
Keyboard mode to Navigation mode and then to Hidden mode and back to
Keyboard mode. On my new Anroid device, doing that has no effect.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

My new device is a Wiko Wax smartphone with latest firmware. It runs
Android 4.3. TalkBack version is 3.5.1.

Please provide any additional information below.

In Android 4.3 the default Android keyboard has been improved so that
I may actually use it. However I really miss D-pad to get back and
forth in text fields and also the possibility to turn keyboard on in
launcher/shell.
