Under Gentoo the emerge maxima fails with

Bad bug report. You say you used clisp, but then give info about gcl. Which is it?

I can confirm this. I have clisp-2.33 installed and also am using Gentoo's portage system to install maxima-5.9. I have not tried to install using gcl yet.

Successful Gentoo builds with more recent versions (5.9.2, 5.9.3) have been reported, so whatever this problem was, it apparently has gone away. Closing this report as fixed.
