maxima 5.9.2 from rpms doesn\'t run on Fedora Core 5 #4099

Dear friends,

I just installed maxima 5.9.2 on Fedora Core 5 using yum and it doesn't work.

The output of "rpm -qa | grep maxima" is maxima-runtime-gcl-5.9.2-13.fc5 maxima-gui-5.9.2-13.fc5 maxima-5.9.2-13.fc5

and when I run maxima from a terminal I get

> maxima

Error in CONDITIONS::CLCS-UNIVERSAL-ERROR-HANDLER [or a callee]: 4 is an illegal ihs index.

I'm marking this report as "closed" and "won't fix" for a few reasons.

(1) There have been several releases since 5.9.2. Maybe if it still matters, you can try a more recent release.

(2) The rpms were apparently created by someone other than the Maxima project developers. If it matters, you'll need to follow up with whoever created the rpms.

One last bit of advice. If installation from binary rpms fails, try rebuilding from the source rpm.
