We've talked about this. This branch allows:

Parsing raw results without creating a client object
Getting a Net::HTTP::Response object for a query so you can parse it yourself, if you choose

See examples at https://gist.github.com/806334. They could go in the readme, maybe, but these are probably not common use cases.
