Based off Matt Allen's email to the rails-oceania list on 2013-11-05, including clarification from Lachie Cox's email on the same day. I fixed some typos, changed text order slightly for clarity, and changed the formatting.

@mattallen, can you please let me know of any changes or corrections that should be made, otherwise merge this PR and I will take that as confirmation that you agree that the contents are an accurate record.

Thanks!

+1 all good. Merge away, Tim. Thanks!

@mattallen OIC, you're not an admin yet. :)

@rubyaustralia can you please add @mattallen & @vertis to the rubyaustralia org?

evolve2k commented 10 years ago

I could be wrong but once this account was converted to a github organisation it's now just managed by the members and just depends on a member who has proper permissions (https://github.com/blog/674-introducing-organizations), Im not a member myself but I can see you are @tjmcewan so maybe if you hit up the members page hopefully you have permissions to add people or at least see who does. It'll be one of these peeps at least: https://github.com/rubyaustralia?tab=members

thanks @evolve2k - did you get a notification for this? I assumed @ mentioning rubyaustralia would notify all organisation owners - is that not the case? I will individually target them, if need be. I only have commit access to this repo.

it is my understanding that the org owners are supposed to be maintained as the committee members - that way they can approve/veto all of the public information without any barriers or delay.

For background, I originally setup 'rubyaustralia' as a github individual and this account was then 'upgraded' into an organisation. Somewhere once upon a time notifications were set to come to me but as of current I don't seem to have any special access writes which is as it should be considering I am not a current committee member.

Agree that mentioning @rubyaustralia should notify all members, but not sure, hopefully another of your members is reading this and can confirm.

In theory the association secretary should manage and setup proper access for members so they can get to any tools they want. If the current secretary wants to touch base with me on this (as I was the original secretary) Im happy to chat/help out, find me on twitter here: @richiekhoo.

Cheers

Richie

@benschwarz @keithpitty @pat hey there, can you please add @mattallen & @vertis to the rubyaustralia org? also, might wanna take Richie's email off the org. is there a committee group email address?

tjmcewan commented 10 years ago

@evolve2k thanks for your help mate; sorry for the interruption.

Added Matta and Luke, and Richie's right - he doesn't have admin access. Richie: if you don't want the alerts, you can un-watch the repo (which is what I've done) :)
