Short description of the talk
With the Agon Light as an example, I want to introduce you to the fascinating world of retro computing and retro programming. As professional developers in 2023 we build our software on incredibly complex stacks of other software and it seems like every couple of years we add at least another layer of indirection and abstraction on top. What if, at least for a brief moment, you could cut out all of that and go back to how programming was for hobbyists in the early 80s. What if, instead of dealing with old hardware and unreliable data storage devices (Floppies! Tapes!) you could simply buy a thing for 50 EUR and still be 90% there, but with modern conveniences and components.
