running gnome windows without desktop background #291

I've been running tiling window managers for a while now. My first love was DWM with all it's simplicity. I'm now an i3 convert and still loving all the tiling awesomeness.

I've had a problem when I download a file in my browser and accidentally choose to open the folder...nautilus launches and along with it a full gnome desktop background that overtakes the entire workspace.

Initially I was restarting my window manager X session to clear the gnome desktop. Then I found if I killed the nautilus process that the desktop background would go away as well.

Today I've found that this same problem I had in DWM also plagues i3. :( I finally took to google to resolve it and found: https://faq.i3wm.org/question/1/how-can-i-get-rid-of-the-nautilus-desktop-window.1.html

so I've added

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false

to my ~/.xinitrc -- https://github.com/ruebenramirez/.dotfiles/commit/d33ca5e3e4795312af61bcbac329e775bc6fdf0d

...and now I don't have to worry about accidentally opening folders and ruining my tiling X sessions!
