windows how to key toggle trackpad on/off

• on linux I have a keyboard shortcut to toggle on/off the touchpad
• [ ] is there a registry hack that can be used to toggle the touchpad on and off?
• [ ] is there an app that already provides this functionality?

it looks like the only windows built-in functionality is to connect a mouse and configure the touchpad to be disabled when a mouse is connected.

Maybe I can make windows think there's a mouse plugged in, in order to disable the touchpad?

• this will only work when a mouse is not plugged in
• it would be better to just directly control whether the touchpad is on or off instead of hacking around the problem

idea: check out the registry before and after mouse is plugged in

• take a system registry snapshot before mouse is plugged in
• compare that to a system registry snapshot after a mouse is plugged in
• There's bound to be a difference in the registry since it holds the OS configuration

idea: look for docs on disabling the touchpad programmatically

• maybe there's a bios SDK I can interface with
• maybe there's a windows 10 SDK call I can make to toggle the touchpad on and off

laptop info:

• razer blade 15" 2019 w/ 2070 maxq
• there's no keyboard shortcut to disable touchpad built into the keyboard already (this option seems available on lenovo thinkpads and seems like it leverages bios firmware instead of OS level hardware controls)
