To ensure safe running as a service, automate a backup of ES index files. Will depend on environment, but should be easy enough to configure say an rsync to either local or remote filesystem location. This will only become an issue on very large collections, which is a consideration for offering as a service.

Feel this is more of a a service rather than software (Bibserver) issue (so e.g. should be in http://trac.okfn.org/ if related to bibsoup). Hence can I propose closing?
