I'm hating this crap!!!! Not Angular. You guys got it easy. I've built and destroyed at least 5 virtual servers trying to find a nice backend api framework that is well known (supported), and well documented. I will explain the technical stuff tomorrow. I think it's good learning experience, but .... why can't stuff just freaking work as advertised? I really think this headache was the motivation for services in the cloud! They do all the setup and configuration, but charge you monthly hosting. It's probably worth the money to a company, but we don't have that option:) Here is a summary:
Builld server with:
Apache
Php5
Mysql
Add python
Add ??? umpteen other packages to support X framework
Add X api framework
Follow instructions for framework which usually includes:
create virtual host on apache tied to subdomain
make sure paths and permissions are correct
create seemingly random files and directories with no logical connection.
if IP address changed for my virtual server, go back to godaddy and update mx records.
Install a micro server to listen on some arbitrary port.
