I like Bryan Finsters talk better than the paper. https://youtu.be/0vi7XW15UIg Very good stuff, the natural followup is in the book "Modern Software Engineering" which goes into which behaviors typically correspond to high DORA metrics. Spoiler: TDD and Continuous Delivery.

Fun fact, bird bones are not hollow to make them light, it's because they are an extension of their lungs :MINDBLOWN:

Doing my part to increase your comment count metric 🫡

I had no idea what DORA metrics were so this one was very interesting to me. I do work in the sort of place where they would be useless except as an excuse for me to sound smart by saying metrics are trending in a positive direction and other such things. But if I ever land at a place with a more formal devops process it would probably be good for me to know about this. Runtime Rundown continues to \~give back\~.

I hereby dare Evan Cooper to record an episode without mentioning a theoretical point at which most listeners have jumped ship. RR is a good time from beginning to end; I bet everyone who starts listening is in it for the whole ride. I know I am! In fact, at the beginning of each episode I immediately freeze in place wherever I am and stand as still as a statue for the entire duration of the show (just to make sure I'm absorbing as much as I can). It gets me some weird looks but it's worth it.

Wat. My mind is blown.

Also, @danieluhl I haven't read Modern Software Engineering yet but it's on my list.

I accept this dare. I can't help but look at the metrics for our Typescript episode and despair when the entire audience dropped off at minute 47 though...

...not that I blame them with an episode length longer than a marvel movie.

@mattmacneil It's exactly as we intended.

@danieluhl I had a hard time finding the original paper, thanks for the link!
