I'm finally caught up on all episodes and have many sizzling hot takes to share in these comment sections, I cannot wait to burden you with my opinions (thank you for mentioning my other comment btw). I really have to start with the most shocking revelation: I think these Tetris videos might turn me into a "vim person". Or at least I'll give it a shot again.

My opinion of vim is largely based on my experience back in the day, and I'm probably actually thinking of vi but still. It's just flashbacks of my heart rate spiking as I furiously Googled "vim how to svae dont overwrite tutorail help". I'm looking at it now and it doesn't seem too hard but back then it was way too "The Matrix"-y for me. But it looks so sharp and intuitive in those videos. So now the healing can begin ♡.

As far as the actual content of the episode: I think this is a good encapsulation of what seems to be one overarching theme of your podcast - there is a healthy and genuine approach to personal and professional growth in the industry; it takes hard work, introspection, forgiveness (for yourself and others), humility, and a willingness to engage in non-hierarchical mutual information exchange. There are so many moving targets that nobody can possibly keep up with and that results in a lot of bad career advice like grinding away at open source after work to stay relevant. So I think it's important for people to hear good career advice from people who actually live it.

Of course there are lots of articles about that topic but you've hit a really good stride when it comes to projecting truly beneficial ideas without veering into the usual "lifehacks" or buzzy self-help pablum.

I promise that there's a point buried in that word salad!

Wow, Matt, thank you for the great comment! I missed this somehow, glad to hear my Tetris videos made Vim look enticing, you should definitely give it another chance. I really appreciate your take on our career chat! We strive to be the anti-lifehack-buzzy-self-help-pablum guys.
