First Runtime Hangout #16

I would like to propose we do a runtimejs Google hangout.

We can do it on-air, meaning it's archived afterwards, or just privately if people are shy.

If @iefserge is willing to walk us through some of the architecture, I'm sure many of us would love to just learn how operating systems are put together at the lowest levels.

There are a lot of time-zones here:

  1. @iefserge is UTC+2
  2. San Francisco is UTC-8
  3. @hij1nx is UTC-5

Using scheduleonce it seems like the best time range is 9am PST - 1pm PST (or 7pm - 11pm Ukraine). Date can be determined according to schedules.

Yeah, we can do this, even though I'm not the greatest speaker :) I'm going on vacation this month from 11th to 20th, so I think sometime after that.

I'm not too much into hangouts, chats or IRCs, I'm more into mail lists, but if so, I'm located at Spain (+1) :-)

Okay, let's aim to start at 9:00am PST, July 21 with the understanding that hangouts is lame, and will take a few minutes to get organized. I will tweet out the link (https://twitter.com/0x604) shortly before then.

I believe hangouts can accommodate 10 people.

What might be more useful than a hangout would be to post questions about how things work. That's probably better for helping people new to the project.

@hij1nx do you mean to talk about during the hangout, or do you mean to cancel the hangout?

Ok, you can prepare some questions and I'll try to answer them during the hangout. Also I'll try to explain basic ideas behind runtimejs system.

My agenda (I'll try to keep it ~1hr)

  1. introductions (everyone)
  2. @iefserge can talk about runtimejs
  3. everyone else can say their piece
  4. technical overview (what is a "process", what is JavaScript vs. what is C++)
  5. questions/discussion

The above is just a guide, and used to facilitate interesting discussion. If this leads to other interesting topics that's probably fine.

@groundwater do you want to do this regularly? If so, let's get a regular announcement going on the mailing list.
