On "GNU bash, version 5.0.3(1)-release (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)", I tried to install Z in "~/.z/z.sh". This generated the ERROR error: z.sh's datafile (/home/me/.z/) is a directory. I changed the installation directory to fix the problem.
By the way, thanks for our good work on Z.
I've run into the same issue. Default data file can be changed by setting _Z_DATA, as mentioned in the man page.
