Please bring back pre-2.0 puzzle sizing - too much blank space #207

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

In 2.0, the puzzle seems smaller than in previous versions, despite the fact
that less is being displayed on the screen - there is a lot of wasted, empty
space.

The pre-2.0 puzzle sizing was superior. Please bring back pre-2.0 puzzle sizing.

Note: I don't want to go "fullscreen" because I want the notification bar
displayed at all times - so that's not really an option.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.0

Please provide any additional information below.
The app worked really well pre-2.0 - no love for the new version.

Swipe circles and digit buttons won't fit on small screens in portrait (xperia
mini). Attached a screenshot in fullscreen mode. Maybe the MathDoku "Play a
game" could be removed and that space could be used for timer and normal /
maybe mode button. The digit buttons could also be smaller.

Going full screen doesn't matter for the grid size. The smallest dimension of
the display determines the size of the grid. The 1.96 version of the grid won't
come back. Also the action bar containing the mathdoku icon and title will not
be removed.

Button sizing needs to be optimized for smaller screen sizes.

Going fullscreen reveals at least the top-sides of 2nd row buttons. Previously
the grid was more or less the same size in both landscape and portrait. In 2.0
the buttons take half of the screen in landscape.

I disagree on the importance of showing the icon and "play a game". Obviously
the user isn't stupid and can see what's going on anyway.

The size of the grid in landscape mode is indeed smaller than the same grid in
portrait mode. This is not caused by the buttons but because of the action bar.
As less height is available for the grid, also less width is needed to display
as the grid is a perfect square. As a result the buttons uses the remaining
space.

The action bar above the game is needed as more and more devices do not have a
menu button anymore. In such cases the action bar also holds a button to access
the menu. Access to the menu is rather essential.

I totally agree with the smaller size "complaint." It is harder too work with,
especially the size if the 'maybe' numbers in yellow. It was much better
before. I don't use swipe
