happens once in a while, no specific steps to reproduce.

Managed to reproduce something very similar by pressing Home during the 
generation of a new game. It causes the game to be saved part way through 
generation which leads to strange grids. Note: Only happens occasionally - 
depends on the timing of pressing Home.
