Unticking "Display Timer" doesn't have any effect until application is restarted

Tested with Revision 132:

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play a game with timer on.
2. Half way through, untick "display timer" in options.
3. Timer is still displayed. Timer is only removed when the application is 
"restarted" (e.g. press back and then select the application, or do a screen 
rotate).

Going the other way (turning on timer), the effect is immediate (which is what 
I would expect to happen when the timer is turned off).
