Q: Why? A: historical reasons. NB2 was one of the first Hellen boards or maybe THE first Hellen board, and it was considered to be a universal v8 ECU. We still have a lot of residual from that bad original idea, a lot of those consequences should be addressed one day to reduce complexity.
LIN is removed from rev E.
why do we have LIN/K-line at all?
It's extra hardware we don't use. Adds cost. Opportunities for BOM mistakes, as we've seen where somehow https://github.com/rusefi/hellen72/blob/master/boards/hellen72-d/board/hellen72-d-BOM.22september2021.csv contains a TJA1051 in place of a TJA1021.
