I suggest putting ETB functionality on an expansion port. All of it, including TPS and pedal sensors. This way we can offer an ETB expansion harness without having to add pins to the main connector. The primary TPS sensor can be directly connected to the stock TPS sensor input on the PCB, since I don't see a scenario where one would be using both.
what connector are you thinking?
It would need pedal too
My personal preference is Molex MiniFit connectors. Or the JSTs we use for the WB- just with an appropriate number of pins. How many pins is beyond my minute knowledge of ETBs. I would be OK with just running a loom through the housing and not having the connector accessible from the outside directly.
JST probably isn't beefy enough. Something like 5 amps confinuous rating is probably a reasonable minimum for the motor wires.
Molex MiniFit Jr. Max current 9A https://www.molex.com/webdocs/datasheets/pdf/en-us/0039000038_CRIMP_TERMINALS.pdf
typical ETB is six wires: two high current DC motor wores
to keep things smaller and simpler for current first iteration my proposal is a compromise - see top description
opinions @stefanst @andreika-git @mck1117 @OrchardPerformance ?
part of the deal is the fact we need a clear decision in the next 24 to 48 hours
Make the two wire holes for the DC in the shape of a Molex MiniFit Jr. 2-pin connector? Everything else is fine by me.
Sounds fine to me.
Thirded. Any etb with this unit would be a wire in addition but experiance says its valuable to have there for flexibility and interchange of bmw parts.
DC would NOT be routed to 88 pin pedal position dual potentiometer would NOT be routed to 88 pin
TPS one channel could be routed to 88 pin normal TPS and "4 pin JST for low current of TPS pigtail connector" TPS second channel would NOT be routed to 88 pin
For TPS signal use pin 73
done
@ivanchuba please show me "6 pin JST" on the PCB
same "Molex MiniFit Jr. 2-pin connector for DC motor"
are those 2.54 headers or JST with JLC part numbers?
do we need to improve silkscreen of those?
2.54 headers silkscreen for PINs is a bottom side
We really need those to be JST connectors with JLC part numbers
if we are badly out of space first thing to be removed would be "GND" P1 of WBO - that way we can shift all other holes and get space?
there was enough space
@rusefillc please check ETB connection
@rusefillc please check
Good enough for now
That ETB which we have removed?
@stefanst says we need it
6 pin JST for pedal pigtail connector two position sensors - analog inputs same as pedal on Nissan121 or vag 121 two GND two 5v
4 pin JST for low current of TPS pigtail connector two position sensors - analog inputs same as TPS on Nissan121 or vag 121. one of these sensors also wired into 88 pin if this car has potentiometer TPS single GND, single 5v
Molex MiniFit Jr. 2-pin connector for DC motor
@stefanst do we have pins to reuse? if not how do you see it?
