What is the closest polycase case?

PCB seems 154mm by 151mm give or take?

rusefillc commented 2 years ago

@stefanst this one about 6.5 by 6.5 inches

https://www.polycase.com/jb-65 ?

How will this be mounted? Make a custom aluminum (or as Simon and I would say Aluminium) bracket? Case and mounting solution go hand-in-hand. These guys may be able to make brackets, depending on complexity: https://www.oshcut.com/bending/

Does anybody have mounting dimensions/directions?

rusefillc commented 2 years ago

@Qwerty-OFF can you please insert 3D of this proteus into 3D of https://www.polycase.com/jb-65 and see how many of bottom mounting points we can align?

stefanst commented 2 years ago

Clarification: I was asking about how the case gets mounted in the car. Not how the PCB is mounted in the case. Also: Why are we going off OEM PCB dimensions? Don't we just need the connector dimensions and then mounting of the PROTEUS somewhere behind it?

rusefillc commented 2 years ago

Oh, gotcha on vehicle mounting

Exploring off OEM PCB so that we can go BOTH oem and polycase. Also sometimes the space available is more or less OEM shape like this specific Honda has a very specific nook for the ECU.

stefanst commented 2 years ago

It might be helpful to know the size of the nook then.

We can try add this holes image image

stefanst commented 2 years ago

We can already see that this solution would be weird du to the angular sides of the desktop-type housing. The connector-area will look screwy. A more boxy shape would be better I think. Hence the need to know the size of the cubby it's supposed to go into.

rusefillc commented 2 years ago

@stefanst very limited polycase options between 6x6 to 8x8

As on ONLY this one

stefanst commented 2 years ago

@rusefillc can we go beyond/outside of 6x6 and 8x8? How about height? If machining in house by Polycase is not needed, we can possibly find an alternate supplier and forgo Polycase. Or tell us that this is the case to use and "just make it work".

rusefillc commented 2 years ago

@Qwerty-OFF thank you for the 3D!

https://www.polycase.com/jb-65 does not work for us, no need to have these holes
