unable to install rust for x86_64-pc-windows-gnu using rustup-init script #1194

Running the rustup-init script for x86_64-pc-windows-gnu from Other-installers shows as x86_64-pc-windows-msvc in current installation options. capture

running rustup-init.exe downloaded by clicking x86_64-pc-windows-gnu and running rustup-init.exe downloaded by clicking x86_64-pc-windows-msvc both shows current installation option as x86_64-pc-windows-msvc so i'm confused.
