Why are you interested in joining the Safety Critical Rust Consortium?
I am interested in the Rust language, and have used it in a few personal hobby projects thus far.
As a member of the MISRA C and MISRA C++ working groups I have an interest in creating coding guidelines for safety critical systems. I joined those working groups as a representative of Vector, and more directly because I am employed to work on PC-lint Plus, the successor to PC-lint, a static analysis tool for C and C++.
There is opportunity for the creation of certified static analysis tools to analyze Rust for use in safety critical industries. The creation of these tools, with names already known and trusted in the embedded space, would assist the proliferation of Rust in these spaces. In order to increase the legitimacy of these tools analysis, a published set of guidelines for the safe use of Rust would be beneficial. Therefore I would like to contribute to the creation of these coding guidelines, and become part of the coding guidelines subcommittee.
Do you plan to be a producer or observer in the consortium?
