I used to love this mod on my 1.7. Server, but with 1.12. I noticed, the Grid Power system makes many things from this mod not the best option for certain tasks anymore. It has gotten to the point, that using transport nodes are no longer useful, as transport pipes from other mods are just inferior in every way.
I can see the point behind the Grid Power system, but for a big base, the scaling does not work anymore. Many players on my Server complained about this and I found no config option to tweak this, so I added a custom recipe for players to craft a creative mill with 9 dragon egg mills.
My suggestions are the following:
Add an option to completely remove the need of Grid Power.
Add an option to tweak every machines generation rates.
Add options for tweaking efficiency losses of the generators.
Add an option to disable efficiency loss.
I also think, the Grid Power system would be much better if you add more unique ways to generate Grid Power, or generate it on a lager scale.
