I've noticed the same thing. At first I thought it might have something to do with the solar panels, so I destroyed those and created water mills. Seemed to work for a while, but today, quite randomly, it started happening with the water mills as well. I had 16 water mills and only a handful of machines using about 140 GP but it reported I was using 12000 some odd GP. Then randomly it reverted back later and started working normally after I had given up troubleshooting the issue.
I have the exact same issue as both of you, same pack version and mod version as OP.
EDIT: I have noticed switching dimensions seems to reset the Grid Power counter (e.g. overworld -> deep dark), but then it just continues to climb for no reason again... even with ALL machines using GP have been removed from the world. The only things I have in my world are Solar Panels and Water Mills; nothing is using GP but GP use still continues to climb very slowly.
EDIT 2: Working now for some reason. Rebooted server. Went overworld -> deep dark. Came back to overworld. Removed all the Solar Panels. Left the Water Mills in the world.
Got the same issue with the FTB Lite Pack (v 1.5.1). It is definetly relate to dimensions. When I go to the Nether and travel a certain direction the GP keeps climbing more and more up to 56000. If I use the Portable Teleporter from Mekanism to get back to the overwold while GP is that high it stays that high until I enter and exit the Nether through the Vanilla portal again.
Grid power usage is randomly reporting more GP used than actual use. Not sure how this bug happens but I was using 30/169 GP and without adding any GP using items to the world I am using 1837/169 GP. The only thing I've done is placed and broken wireless RF Transmitters. To clarify this is not just a reporting issue, Extra Utilities behaves like I am actually using 1837GP. The only work-around found thus far is to reboot the server, but even that is not a guaranteed fix.
