You always had to have a the Mining / World Interaction Upgrade. Extra Utilities 2 is a new mod, rewritten with new rules. In the old version you had to make a QED and power it with Crystals, to do the more advanced things. The QED was slow unless you had a lot of crystals. The crystals were made of Ender-Eye's and Obsidian. So in Extra Utilities 2, most of the advanced crafting is done in a regular crafting table, but the items which do all that kewl stuff use "Grid Power" which keeps you from having to have a whole room full of Ender-flux crystals in your base, and shifts the initial requirement to gain access to the features of the mod to require a bit more investment first.
Thats how mod authors do things. They create a completely OP mod that is obscure and hard to figure out, and then everyone makes video's and it becomes common knowledge, so the Author changes it to require more work by the user to gain access to his favorite pet functions.
Oh and one more thing. RWTema, spent thousands of hours writing this mod you have likely given up on by now, so saying that you don't want to punch grass for 5 mins to have enough cobble to continue playing minecraft, is not likely to go over well with him, since he is a genius and dedicated his time to provide this amazing mod to all of us.
water mill to generate GP for the mining upgrade.
Made some progress since originally posting. I now found out there is a world interaction upgrade which went trough a rename, making it harder to find.
Right now I am about to give up on this mod, as I just found out I need to build something like a power plant in order to power this node. Getting the node itself took around 4 hours of grinding, and I can't imagine doing much more of hand-mining cobble, hammering and sieving it. In the youtube videos I saw, it would just instantly start mining as soon as placed, no upgrades, no power, no nothing. Was that an older version?
