Mobs spawned by Cursed Earth appear to follow one of the vanilla despawn rules, and will instantly despawn if there isn't a player within 128 blocks. This kind of defeats one of the major uses of Cursed Earth.
I tested this by making a Blood Magic Tier 6 Blood Altar with a Well of Suffering ritual, and with an appropriately sized blood orb. I made a dark room with Cursed Earth, Chunk Loaded everything with a Chunk Loading Ward powered by a creative generator, and then teleported away. The LP stopped the second I teleported out of range.
I repeated the test with an Ender IO Powered Spawner (Skeleton), and renamed vanilla witches. Both continued to generate LP regardless of player distance.
