The idea and information is great! I see you have provided workshop example. However, I could not see much activity at this repo. Is this still under active development?

Yes it is. Current development takes place within the https://github.com/acplt/rte repo. The realization of the Asset Administration Shell is done via libraries of that runtime environment.
